SEBASTIAN FISHER
human
APPEARANCE Tall and lean. Sebastian is built for swift action and quick hits; not necessarily powerful ones. He doesn’t have a whole lot of weight to pack behind his attacks but fortunately a sword doesn’t necessarily need the weight to be lethal, you just need to know how to use it. He doesn’t wear much protection and opts for lightweight robes and sometimes leather armor as the means of his physical protection. His mindset is that if he’s quicker than the enemy and they are unable to hit him, then he wouldn’t have to wear armor in the first place: a risky motto to follow sure, but it has worked for him for years. He keeps his dark hair relatively short but he can never seem to tame it no matter what he does so he’s opted to just leave somewhat free spirited. He has piercing blue eyes that often unnerve others from making eye contact due to how intimidating he often seems; with a smile that is rarely present on his face; but a frown or scowl readily available. His cheeks and nose have sharp features to them and he remains a clean shaven appearance. Despite having been handling a blade for so long; he doesn’t have an outward scars apparent on what is viewable to the public. Around his neck he keeps a pair of rings attached to a necklace, one belongs to him, while the other belonged to his wife. PERSONALITY Short and to the point; Sebastian likes to keep things to a ‘no nonsense’ atmosphere; especially when in areas where a fiend could jump out at any given moment. He won’t tell someone to keep their yaps shut during these times but a companion won’t find him actively participating in a conversation. If the topic is something important or related to their current destination he won’t have an issue giving his input if he has any to give. He maintains a weary eye and ear out for any trouble that might be lurking that could potentially harm the people he’s traveling with. He is quite opinionated; that being said, he’s also not likely to share his opinions unless asked or if he felt that his opinions may keep someone safe. He isn’t the leader type nor does he want people constantly looking to him for answers; so often his opinions are freely shared quite scarcely. He likes to maintain the watchdog routine he has as he felt anything with more responsibility is something he’s not qualified for. Sometimes this often can be quite intimidating to those who don’t know him; but that’s the exact persona he strives to maintain. Intimidation wards off a lot of trouble before it would become an issue. Despite how he may seem, Sebastian is kind-hearted, trait that isn’t often noticed by people unless they really observe his actions closely. He is quick to fetch firewood without prompt when he sees it low, always ready to take the graveyard shift if a group is camping overnight out in the field, will take less food if supplies are running short, won’t complain about injuries so supplies aren’t wasted on him, and if you’re lucky, you just might see how he interacts with children in the city. One thing he enjoys above all else, is doing something to make children laugh in a world damaged by Sin. Sebastian doesn’t talk about himself much, but while he strives to press forward and gives no outward appearance as such, he is quite depressed. With the recent loss of loved ones weighing heavily on his shoulders, he keeps that aspect of his life out of the general public the best he can. His desire to become a Guardian strived mainly from revenge upon Sin. In a battle against anything related to Sin, be it the monster itself or it’s spawn, Sebastian becomes very much like a wild tiger. His anger is released and he attacks viciously and in a blind rage with very little regard to his own safety. HISTORY Sebastian was born in Bevelle but moved to Luca around the age of eight. His parents were devote followers of Yevon are to this day; their beliefs they pushed upon their son: Sebastian. For the better part of his life, Sebastian followed the teachings of Yevon, no questions asked and always looked to the Teachings for guidance when he needed it. He was well educated and acted like any normal kid growing up in Luca. He watched Blitzball and participated in the sport with groups of friends with an aspiration of one day making a professional blitzball team. It was a typical dream of the kids in Luca but Sebastian eventually grew out of that phase. When he turned eighteen, he met the woman who would later become his wife: Karen. She had visited the small local temple in Luca that Sebastian and his family frequented. While it was no Temple of the Fayth that the summoners would stop on their pilgrimage, it was still a temple that focused on passing along the Teachings of Yevon to those who would listen. Karen and Sebastian hit it off quite well, and it wasn’t even two years later that the two were married right there in the very church they had met in. The two moved out of Luca to a small town outside of it where they began to start a new family together in the form of their baby daughter: Susan. Sebastian ended up joining the Crusaders at the age of twenty-two despite Karen’s protests. He reasoned that he wanted to keep Sin as far away from his loved ones as possible, and because of that, he needed to join them, to keep Sin away from their family and their precious daughter. So despite her reluctance, Karen allowed it and for the next two years Sebastian was a Crusader until he heard news of Sin’s approach toward his home. He had been in Kilika at the time and the boat ride back to the mainland had been the longest in his life. The moment the boat touched land he was running home so he could evacuate his family; only to find the town was already destroyed not two hours prior to his arrival. He sorted through the rubble and prayed to Yevon that he would find his family alive. While Karen had been found dead, his daughter was still alive. He blamed himself for having joined the crusaders instead of staying home like his wife desired. Guilt and depression over his wife’s death, he left his baby girl in the care of his parents; having felt unfit for the duty of fatherhood and gave up being a Crusader. His parents headed back to Bevelle while Sebastian headed back to what used to be his house, to rummage what he could from the remains. Having gathered all that he could from the ruined household, he headed back toward Luca and for the last six months that is where he’s been. Waiting for something… for someone… he doesn’t know what he’s waiting for but he felt the need to stab his sword into Sin, to wipe it off the face of the planet rather than play the diversion game as a crusader. ROLEPLAY SAMPLE It used to be enjoyable: watching a blizball game; but now that he was there in the stadium with a game going on… it irritated him. It wasn’t the game but rather the stadium itself. It was crowded, far too crowded to his liking, not to mention the noise. The people screaming, hollering, and cheering was just grating on his nerves to the point that he had to simply leave the stadium and get away from the crowd. He headed to the east section of the city where the bars and shops stood, the decorative fountain was on and gushing with crystalline water. He crossed his arms and scuffed as he stood at the fountain, and watched the stream of the fountain as it poured down into the waters below. He needed to get out of Luca but at the moment he had no where to go, no path to follow. Right now he was without a purpose. He knew what he wanted to do but he also knew that charging out on his own was a surefire way to get himself killed. He needed a group of people but he knew that he couldn’t just ask anyone to join him in his quest to kill Sin. The Crusaders were not the way, he already knew that, but there were very few options for him to take. He could become a Guardian… but he didn’t know any summoners; nor did he know of anyone that would even want him tagging along. Summoners were the ones that often defeated Sin, if he could be a part of that maybe… maybe he’d feel better. Maybe he wouldn’t feel so guilty anymore and he’d be able to go home to his parents, look at his daughter, and not feel ashamed. He shook his head and pulled out a Gil. He hadn’t spoken to Yevon since his wife was dead but… He flipped a coin into the water, ’If you do truly exist… show me the way.’ He needed a path. Someone he could tag along with that would give him the chance to be part of destroying Sin.
