LEZARD ROI
human
APPEARANCE Lezard has short dark hair that is generally unkept. He doesn't put much effort into making his hair look presentable and just generally runs his fingers through it when he wakes up and calls it good. His eyes are blue and often shifted to the ground and hardly making eye contact. He isn't bulky or muscular, and is on the borderline of being somewhat skinny. His face is a clean complexion; free of blemishes, and his tone is on the paler side as he spends most of his time in temples. Not comfortable in the classic heavy robe for the white mage, he is found wearing more practical travel clothes: loose pants, dress shirt with an occasional jabot. He alternates between wearing a high collared jacket or an unclosed light cotton white jacket that pays homage to the classic white mage robe. As like many White Mages, Lezard also carries around a magical rod for concentration; although his rod is much of a rod as it's some branch he picked up off the ground at some point and carved it into the mis-shapened rod that he now carries. Offensively the rod is best used as kindling for a fire; as in, it's useless to try and smack anything with it as it's not the most durable of things. Eventually he plans to purchase a legitimate rod but hasn't had the Gil to do so. PERSONALITY Lezard didn’t have a lot of friends growing up; having always been the shy kid to really be outgoing enough to include himself in activities with others. He spent most of his time captured in books, both leisurely and educational. Lacking the confidence in his social graces as well as himself, he tends to avoid eye contact with people: even those he’s speaking with directly. He finds it difficult to find a relation between himself and another that would allow easy conversation. Most of his socializing had been with priests at various temples where they tutored him in the ways of Yevon and the value of life. He has never been on any sort of ‘adventure’ growing up and the only fiends he’s encountered are the ones that other people have fought while he watched from a distance; that being said, when he does encounter a fiend, he isn’t exactly cowardly toward them, but he won’t be gungho about getting into a fight with them either. Lezard is book smart. This means that when it comes to knowledge and theorizing, Lezard is adept at such things. He has read up on various subjects as well as studied monster directories in order to know quite a number of fiends’ weaknesses. In the practical world, he’s not so smart. Everything with him involves theorizing and not put into actual practice that makes it a risk when it comes to various dangers across Spira. He lacks the life experiences of traveling on a road to know how to properly defend himself as well as others and relies heavily on logic/theories rather than instincts and experiences. While he has a strong belief in Yevon, he is not the type to cram down the beliefs and ideals of the church down the non-believers. That being said, the only reason he is weary of Al Bhed is because he was raised that way and just like a typical person who follows the Teachings of Yevon, he finds their ways inaccurate. As a people, he doesn't hate them, he just desires them to simply stop the use and pursuit of machine. HISTORY Lezard was born in Bevelle to two parents very much followers of Yevon. He was raised for Ten years in Bevelle, where most of his education had been through the church, when his parents brought him on route to the town of Kilika. On the road they were attacked by Sin Spawn where both ultimately met their demise. They hadn’t been traveling alone; however, and the remaining survivors, brought Lezard to the town where he was left in the capable hands of the church. Be it from his grief over the loss of his parents or his due to his own lack of confidence, Lezard never really found friendships in children his age around Kilika and took to reading more intently on the Teachings of Yevon as well as cleaning up the temple. When he was fourteen years old he became an apprentice to one of the priests at the temple to learn the art of White Magic so that he could lend a hand in aiding people. Over the course of a year he studied and practiced the magic arts as he kept up with the duties and chores bestowed upon him by the temple. He had managed to learn just a handful of spells: Esuna: the power to heal ailments that were harming people, Cure: the power to heal less grievous injuries, and he has barely grasped the power of Ruin. To this day he still can’t seem to master the spell Ruin despite his many attempts and he feels it might have to do with the fact that he doesn’t exactly have a true magical staff to help harness his focus and power. When he came to be the age of eighteen and has helped as many people he could with White Magic, he began to question the usefulness of his aid. He could continue to help people when they faced injuries and sickness; yet, when they left his care they would soon be back in it or dead as long as Sin was still around. With the logic stuck in his mind and Sin having killed his parents when he was a child, he decided that if he could fulfill a purpose, it would be to sacrifice himself in order to defeat Sin. He had no connections outside of the priests at the temple and no real future that he could see. In point, he wasn’t afraid to take that step to give his life for Spira. It wasn’t confidence but more of a lack of care for his wellbeing and the desire to be able to accomplish something with his otherwise unfulfilling life. The priests weren’t against his decision and he immediately attempted the Cloister of Trials in Kilika. He made it to the chamber of Fayth, but no Fayth would come to his calling. He failed. He wasn’t successful but he wasn’t beaten from the idea. He spent six months in prayer and re-reading passages regarding the Aeons and the Fayth. He made a second attempt, stayed in the chamber of Fayth for almost three days before someone dragged him out. He was dehydrated and starved. The priests banned him from attempting again after the failure and for the next year and a half Lezard hadn’t stepped into the Cloister of Trials again. Until one day… Night had fallen and he had been restless and unable to sleep one night. His desire to become a summoner had never been pushed aside but the respect he had for the temple had kept him from going against their word to make another attempt at becoming one. The desire to make another attempt after so much time had been particularly strong that night and he finally snapped. He waited until the Priest guarding the entrance to the Cloister of Trials stepped away before he slipped into once more and made another attempt. It was the third times the charm, the Fayth heeded his call and he woke up the next day with the Aeon Ifrit after he lost consciousness from the connection he was given. That morning is the beginning of his story. ROLEPLAY SAMPLE He had done it. He finally became a summoner. Now he had the power that was necessary to put a stop to Sin. Granted, he hadn’t thought the whole thing out very well. He had no guardian to speak of and he hadn’t traveled outside of Kilika since he had arrived ten years ago. The Priests were unhappy that he had broken in against their word yet seemed to have a less bite to their tone when they learned he had been successful. He was told to head to Besaid for his next Aeon so he at least had a destination in mind and the priest who had looked after him most of his ten years gave him enough money for a fare across the ocean to get to the island. It was nice they were supporting him now that he became a summoner but he still wasn’t prepared. The road of a pilgrimage was a dangerous one and he had no one around to become his Guardian. He had always thought he could be concerned with it after he became a summoner or that perhaps people would line up and offer their blade to service. He knew that wasn’t exactly how it worked. Most Guardians were friends or family from what he gathered and with neither being in any form of supply for him, he was left alone. A lone summoner was likely a dead summoner even with an Aeon by their side. Despite the lack of preparation, the priests were in a hurry for him to start his pilgrimage immediately. “Thank you…” Lezard bowed to the priest and kept his gaze to the floor as he offered what little they could afford to aid him. Even if it was a little more than enough to cover the fare, it was better than nothing. He had some Gil saved up; but he had been saving it for an honest magical staff to replace the cheap imitations that he constructed. It would appear that he’d be required to postpone that purchase for the sake of buying necessities. “Praise be to Yevon. Thank you all for watching over me these past ten years. I hope to bring you the Calm as repayment.” It was the least he could do for having them taken him in. ABILITIES Cure: Can mend minor bone injuries and deep wounds. Cure uses a lot of the casters strength to successfully cast. Cooldown: 3 posts. Esuna: Cures illnesses like poison, confusion, silence and paralysis, if ailment has been long-going Esuna will not cure them. Cooldown: 2 posts. Ruin: Ruin is a defensive ability. It sends a blast of holy light towards an enemy. Ruin is by no means a strong spell. It does minimal damage but comes in handy when dealing with enemies. Cooldown: once per post. SUMMON LIST IFRIT: Ifrit is an aeon obtained in Kilika Temple. The symbol for Ifrit and Kilika is annotated with the kanji for flame (炎, honoo?). The kanji does not mean "fire", but a more emphatic word for a flame or blaze. Ifrit is a very physically strong Aeon. He can attack those with the highest defenses and do a decent amount of damage. ATTACK LIST Meteor Strike: A large fiery ball is formed from Ifrit's mouth. He then punches it to deal fiery damage to an enemy. This attack has the potential to eat through shields and other tough material. Hell Fire: Bathes the enemy party in a ball of rising flame and then throws a chunk of earth at them, causing Fire damage. This attack is fairly powerful, however Ifrit lacks in speed. His movement is very slowed, but he's pretty tough. INVENTORY POTION X3 ANTIDOTE X1 SOFT X1 ECHO SCREEN X1 EYE DROPS X1 HOLY WATER X1 |
