ELISE
human
APPEARANCE Being from the rather eccentric city of Baaj, Elli always stuck out. Her demeanor and appearance is stark in comparison to the now dull colors of the once vibrant city. Her long hair is as red as red hair can be. She lets it flow, wildly, in the wind most times therefore her hair is almost always a complete mess. Even on special occasions she never bothers with it; the length and thickness of it gives her too much of a headache to brush. She has thought a few times in her life that maybe the thing to do would be just to get it all cut off and out of the way but she enjoyed having it too much to do that. It was the only thing she really had left of her femininity and her mother had taken such precise care to grow it out so lovely. When she decided to become a guardian a few members of the Chocobo Knights poked fun at her, telling her that her fiery red hair was almost like a beacon of hope and that whoever she guarded would never lose sight of her because Ellise's hair would always shine brighter than anything else around. The normally easily offended Elli actually enjoyed the thought of that greatly. She would become one of the great Guardians and deliver her summoner to Zanarkand and acquire the Final Summoning. With that she would very much be a beacon of hope for Spira. Elli's face is lovely enough. Her eyes compliment her hair in almost exactly the same color, only the red of her eyes is a bit lighter than her hair. Baaj isn't a particularly sunny place and with that she isn't tan, at all. In fact she is ghostly pale, which is fairly normal for red heads. She hopes fervently as she progresses on a pilgrimage that the sun doesn't over take her and leave her red as a lobster. On her nose is an apparent show of freckles, the pesky things also adorn her large forehead. She hates the freckles on her face but she thanks Yevon everyday that they are not as bad as the ones on the rest of her body! Unclothed there's hardly a spot on her that isn't, well, spotted. Elli wears what a good Warrior would wear. She is never seen without her light, metal armor pieces. Instead of trousers she opts to wear a pleated leather skirt. PERSONALITY Energetic and outgoing, Ellise is constantly making friends and mingling with new faces. She adores making friends almost as much as she loves being adored. Upon meeting her, most people will note Ellise's ability to be noticed. She's loud and even obnoxious sometimes. She really wants to be the center of attention, even the way she dresses denotes this. Ellise is also confident. She carries herself in a way that expresses this quite well. She is prideful in very many ways, the shine of her armor can be a testament to this. She feels that she's a nice person and people should know her. Socially, Elli is very ambitious. There is an air of strength about Elli that most people seem to be drawn to, she doesn't see it herself. She feels weak and out of control most of the time, though this is one of the many other things she keeps to herself. She isn't one to talk about her problems. She carries them along with her and sometimes her demons get the best of her. Days where this might occur it is painfully obvious that something is amok with the young woman. On these days she may seem distant and quiet versus a normal day where she is at the ready to voice her opinion. Ellise was raised to face her problems head on and alone. She does not want to burden others with her issues. She is very generous and would help someone to the best of her ability. But she also has a strict, no bullcrap policy. If she doesn't like you you will know it and you'll know it quickly, because she'll tell you. As a child kids shied away from her brash actions, most were afraid of her even then. Elli has never hesitated to pop someone in the face if she felt the situation permitted it. And with a temper like hers, situations often permit it. She understands that she can't win 'em all but she'll still give you one good blow before everything is said and done. One of Elli's most redeeming qualities is one she doesn't see too well or too often. Although some people act a in a way that she just can't deal with, when offered the past of someone she will not judge them for what they did but what they currently do. She sees the good in anything and anyone, or at least, she tries to. She just wants everyone to get along. If someone doesn't want to get along with her, well then, don't make her mad. HISTORY Ellise was born in Baaj City. As a young girl the strange misshapen buildings always interested her. It appealed to her more adventurous side but at her start Ellise was scared easily. She took to her mother's skirts most of the time, always underneath her. Her mother did not mind, she loved her little girl more than anything in the world. Their relationship had always been one of warmth and love. And Ellise viewed her mother as if she was her own personal god. Her mother stayed home with her, there was rare a time that Elli was not around her mother. Her father's relationship with her was much different. He was reclusive with his feelings and did not express them very well. His was a stern love, one with a hard hand and wise words. Not that he hit her in an abusive way, he rarely punished her physically but the few times he had were memorable to the girl. He rarely showed his daughter affection and always looked for reasons to be proud of his daughter. Although again he never expressed this to her. There were a few instances where her father would hug her or kiss her brow and those were the moments young Elli lived for. Her father taught her independence at an early age. By age 4 she could dress herself and help her mother with chores. By age six she could fix her own simple meals and drinks. Things like soups and sandwiches she could make all on her own. Ellise was never hard to deal with. She listened to her father's every word and craved his praise. She wanted nothing more than to have her father tell her she was his princess and he was proud of her. He never did, however. One thing he would tell her was how wonderfully her long red hair suited her. She has never changed the length of her hair because of this. By age nine Elli was on a strict chore list. She had to wash dishes. Do laundry. She could never cry. She had to be strong. And Elli was. And she rarely cried. Her life was scheduled and strict. It never bothered her much. She had to be perfect for her father. When she was thirteen puberty hit her all at once. Her father felt uncomfortable with her and avoided her. Her mother of course was very sensitive about the changes in Ellise's body and for the first time in a long time Elli cried. And she cried a lot. Her father ignored it to the best of his ability. He did not know what to say or what to do with his hormonal teenager. What was previously viewed as hard love quickly became neglect. Their relationship crumbled. Ellise could see this easily and it made her sad. She just wanted her daddy to hug her and tell her everything was okay. But he never did. It was around this time Ellise decided she was done letting her father control her every move. Why should she care if he didn't really care for her? She started sneaking out and learning how to use a sword. Such an ability was something her father always said was not a woman's place but she had always wanted to. Mainly because her father himself was a well established swordsmen. He was apart of the Crusaders, not only that, he was a Captain in the Crusaders. Her father never came out and said that he felt as if being a woman meant she couldn't use a sword properly but Ellise assumed. It was the only reason she could come up with, why wouldn't he let her do what he himself did? Her mother was constantly battling her to stop acting this way but Elli wanted her father to see her. Really see her. Her father noticed. He just didn't know what to do. It all happened so quickly. His little girl wasn't so little anymore. Sure, he yelled and tried to punish her. He would ground her but she sneaked out anyways. By the age fourteen she was out of control. Something had to change. But her parents did not know what that was exactly. They wanted the nice quiet Ellise back. The girl living in their home had become a stranger. One night Ellise had stayed out practicing her sword well into the late hours. She had stayed out until 3am. When she finally tiptoed her way into the front door her father was sitting in the living room, waiting on her. He stood up and the yelling began. Ellise got very emotional whereas her father stared back at her, seemingly devoid of any feeling. Ellise's emotions were strung high. She only ever wanted her dad to look at her and smile. And tell her he loved her. After a while of him explaining to her that her actions were wrong she flew off the handle and yelled at him for all the wrongs she felt he had done to her. Why didn't he act like he loved her? Why couldn't he just be proud of her? Why couldn't he hug her? And in the midst of it all her mother was crying. This is what her life had become and all she seemed to do was bring her family sadness. For the next few days Elli was hardly ever home. She was eighteen and plenty old enough to make her own decisions, no matter what they made her family feel like. She practiced until her hands blistered so badly that they bled. One of these days she had run into one of the Chocobo Knights. The man on the chocobo had seen her practicing in the outskirts of Baaj. He told her a great many things about the Chocobo Knights and how they were always looking for members and how she seemed to possess a natural ability with the sword. Her mind was swimming with the ideas he put in her mind. She left her home in Baaj to become a Chocobo Knight. Her parents were not thrilled with her decision. Her mother was in shambles, but her father acted in a way that Elli had not expected. He took her away from the small house they resided in, away from her mother's tears and all the reminders that his daughter belonged there. He talked to her, he really talked to her. He told her that he was in no way in acceptance of her decision, but he was proud of her. He spoke of how he could never shake that memory of little Ellise, tugging her mother's skirt, cringing at her own shadow. For a long while that's all he could think about as she ventured out every day, sword in hand. How had his quiet little girl grown into such a stubborn independent woman? Elli had stood there, willing her tears to not run down her face. But her father looked at her and could tell that she was on the verge of tears. For the first time Elli could ever remember he pulled her to him in a tight hug. When Elli left she left with her father's blessing and his smile and that was worth everything in Spira to her. Little had she known that a Chocobo Knight in training was basically being a stable-girl! To ride a chocobo you must know a chocobo, they had said. However, Elli was terrible with the big birds. They squawked too loudly and pecked her hands when she tried to pet them. It became clear to her superiors that she would not fair very well as a Chocobo Knight seeing as they wouldn't let her touch one of their feathers! When her commander told her that she would be better to give it up the girl resigned in defeat. She could have returned home but Ellise was far too afraid to. She knew they would welcome her home but she was sure her father would be disappointed. She could have joined the Crusaders but her she really didn't want her father to have that sort of control over her. The fresh adventurer was afraid that all her adventure was over and she'd have to tuck tail and return home. All because of those damn feathered freaks. But alas! It all became clear to her when she saw a summoner pilgrimaging with his guardian. She would become a guardian herself and bring the calm to Spira! ROLEPLAY SAMPLE You're not getting away... Ellise was sure that the small summoner-man had noticed her. It was hard for her to hide but most of the time she tried to pretend she was just a wandering vagabond, out in the world to find retribution... or something like that. She would roll and duck and leap into shrubbery. It was hard work trying to remain undetected. Obvious enough the blue-haired boy had arrived at Besaid to obtain the Aeon Valefor. But could it be that that was his first aeon, Ellise wasn't exactly sure. The people of Baaj live on an even more remote island than Besaid. The place was dangerously perched on a weak foundation. Besaid was nice enough. She had arrived there with a few Chocobo Knights. They needed to speak with someone or another about something, Elli wasn't privy to those sorts of things since she wasn't technically a Knight. She had decided it was best not to follow the pair any longer and anyways she needed to think about how to approach them. Normally a summoner chooses his or her own guardians. Someone who is near and dear to them but Elli didn't know any summoners and anyone who had her on their team would be much more likely to bring about the Calm. She was superior to most sword wielders anyways. ABILITIES Starting out you can only have the abilities designated on the Battle-Class list for whichever Battle-Class you choose.
